Planned Maintenance this Saturday night
Part of having your servers hosted in the cloud means you can’t control the scheduled downtime when your hosting provider needs to do some maintenance. Fortunately for me my hosting provider VMVault has had very reliable systems and anytime there’s been a failure in one of their systems, I normally find out about it when they are...
How can I subscribe to this blog?
I was asked yesterday by a regular reader how they can subscribe to this blog. I realised then that I don’t have a funky RSS icon or anything like that on my site. Ok – so I’ll fix that in the new year along with a few other thing, but for now – you can subscribe to this blog a few ways.
SBSfaq.com moves to the cloud
As part of bigger plans I have for 2010, I’ve just completed the migration of this and other sites I manage over to a new hosted virtualised solution. I’m also now running it all on Windows Server 2008 R2 which so far seems to be slicker than the older Server 2008 R1 version. I logged on remotely to the site and found that the virtualised servers I run it on had crashed for some reason overnight this taking out out of action. When I broswed the site locally on the server I was able to get additional information about the crash error and it told me that some of the tables in...
A few glitches on the site
Over the past few days I’ve had a couple of strange posts appear on the RSS feed and also a couple of FAQcasts that went live before they were supposed to. Sorry about that :-)
I’ve been playing with scheduled posts and the great ability it gives me to be able to write content for release at a later date, unfortunately in my desire to get the content into the site, I actually messed...
Newsletter starting shortly – sign up now!
One of the big things that I’m aiming to start shortly is a regular newsletter aimed at covering off the top topics in the SMB IT Professional space. The newsletter will contain not just information from and about SBSfaq.com but also about what’s going on out there in the industry. Subscribers to the newsletter will also receive a discount voucher to my first books upon launch.
Social Media page added
In response to the obvious demand for more info and links on Social Media, today I’ve added a Social Media page to the site under the HelpMe section to consolidate all the resource I know of in this space. Things like twitter, facebook and linkedin are the things I’ll post on that page.
SBSfaq.com Launches new blog and website
Today marks the start of a long overdue refresh to SBSfaq.coms website and blog. I’ve bitten the bullet and gotten professionals involved in helping me with the graphic design and overall revamp of the site.
I'm launching the new site with all the old content from the previous www.sbsfaq.com site and my old blog http://blo...
