Dean Calvert
Boon Tee
Mark O’Shea
Jeff Alexander
Roger Lawrence
Ishai Sagi
and of course Robert Crane himself.
This looks to be a pretty good local event, and if it were not for prior commitments, I too would be there. Check out the full agenda and book here

Robert Crane is running a workshop on Sharepoint – Beyond the Basics. Rob is well known as an authority on how SharePoint can be used in the SMB space, and he has recently been awarded as a Microsoft MVP in Office 365 – a core component of Office 365 is SharePoint.
The course information is below and you can register directly with Robert for it here.
To really make the most of SharePoint you need to take it beyond the basics. This means connecting data, creating and utilizing metadata, customizing the look and feel of sites, add web parts and implement workflows. This course will show you how to do all that plus work effectively with products like SharePoint Workspace and designer to take any SharePoint installation from default to a true productivity and communications hub.
The aim of this hands on course is to provide you with the technical ability to work with SharePoint at an intermediate to advanced level as well as understand the tools that are required to craft advanced SharePoint solutions.

Robert Crane – famed Aussie Sharepoint Guru and President of the SMB IT Professionals – Sydney group has launched his Office 365 Bootcamp series. The first event is on 17th August in Sydney, and he is looking to also produce this as a number of webcasts to those that wish to partake in it. Details on it are on Roberts website here
Without a doubt, Robert has been playing with Office 365 longer than anyone I know outside of Microsoft – so if he does not know it – it’s probably not happened.

Come on all you Kerio Partners – the Sydney Partner forum is on June 1st. If you don’t sell Kerio now, you might well want to take a look at the offerings they have. I’ve personally played with the Kerio Control (Firewall) and Kerio Connect (Mail Server) products and think they are well suited in the SMB space that we work in. Below is an extract from the invite I was sent.
Let’s face it. We all tend to gravitate to the easy sell. What we know. What we’re comfortable with. Sometimes it takes some inspiration to step out of our comfort zone and try something new.
This year’s Kerio Partner Forum is designed to inspire you, to challenge you to look at your business, and your customers, through a new lens. Our goal is to help you fulfill your objective of being your customer’s trusted advisor, and to enable you to bring a complete back-office infrastructure portfolio to your SMB clients that will fuel your future growth and won’t leave your customers broke.
Earlier this year Kerio introduced two brand new products – Kerio Workspace and Kerio Operator. The release of these two products represents Kerio’s next step in completing our long-term product vision of simplifying the core technologies that every SMB needs in order to connect, communicate and collaborate – all in a secure environment.
Whether you’re an existing Kerio partner or new to Kerio, you won’t want to miss this year’s Kerio Partner Forum | Sydney on Wednesday, 1st June. You will have the unique opportunity to spend the afternoon with Kerio’s CEO, Scott Schreiman, for some inspiration and motivation that will help you accelerate your business.
Don’t miss this year’s Kerio Partner Forum | Sydney where you will…
- Learn about our motivation and vision behind Kerio Workspace and Kerio Operator from Kerio’s CEO, Scott Schreiman
- Learn how to deploy Kerio Workspace and Kerio Operator in real world scenarios from Kerio’s Sydney based Sales Engineer, John Jones
- See how Australian Business Theater uses Kerio Workspace and hear why Sam Venning, IT Manager, Australian Business Theater chose Kerio Workspace over other competitive solutions
- Network with your peers and the Kerio team over drinks during the happy hour following the formal agenda
Visit the event website for complete details. Register by Wednesday 25th May to reserve your seat.

I’m visiting the US later this month and as part of that trip, I’ll be visiting Phoenix, AZ. While I’m there I’ll be presenting a session I’m putting together on SBS 2011. This will be a technical presentation, not a sales and marketing one, and I’m packing it full of great tips and tricks from the products that I use in my SBS installations.
The event is on March 7th from 2pm onwards at the Microsoft Tempe Office
The new SBS 2011 family brings new technology with it that gives the SMB IT Professional many more options for their client’s business requirements. This session will cover from the basics of the new stable of products, as well as many of the deeper, unknown things that will help you get the best out of them for your clients. This is a technical session focused on how to make it work best for you.
Wayne Small will cover everything from setup and installation through to configuration, migration and integration techniques. He will also cover the companion products such as StorageCraft and Trend Micro.
The first 25 registrations for each event will qualify to receive SBSC store gift voucher at the event!
You can register for the event here

There’s been a heap of hard work to pull this together from fellow Aussie SBS MVPs Dean Calvert and Stuart Applegate and myself, but I’m now very happy to announce that Microsoft are sending two of their top team members from the SMB/SBS team here to Australia in June. Not to miss out on the party, Jeff Middleton has also volunteered to come out and help educate us on how to better migrate our SBS servers. Below is an invite I sent out today to members of SBSfaq.com newsletter. Please register for this event and support your local SMB Community.
A rare chance to talk directly to the Microsoft SMB Team in Australia along with Jeff Middleton aka the King of the Swing Migration.
Nick King, Senior Product Manager in the Windows Server Business Group & Adrian Maziak, Senior Program Manager in the Home and Small Business Server team are coming to present, listen and take feedback on the Microsoft SMB Server products.
Jeff Middleton, the master of the swing migration will be presenting a session on how to migrate from existing SBS environments to SBS 2008 to any combination of Windows 2003, 2008 and Exchange 2003, 2007 or 2010 platforms.
You will also be able to find out more about your local SMB IT Professionals group and understand the benefits of being involved in the growing SMB IT Professionals community here in Australia.
This invitation is a rare chance for you to talk directly to two key members of the Microsoft SMB Team when they visit Australia in June. Make sure you register now using the link below. Note due to timing, Nick and Adrian will only be presenting at the Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne events. Jeff Middleton has volunteered to be at all four events (thanks Jeff).
